The fruit of the spirit is a Biblical term that represents the nine attributes of a
person.
The word, fruit as used in the scripture means fruits in the sense of physical edible
fruit. It can also mean an action, result, deed, character or profit. Every fruit springs
out through a process and there is work the gardener or farmer have to do.
For a child of God to manifest these fruits or character, Christ has done the work
already for us by dying on the cross for us but there is a hard work that one has to
do because fruits do not grow overnight, it goes through a process and the farmer has
to work on the plant by planting the seed on a good soil, weeding the weeds, etc.
If a student wants to produce good fruit that is good grades in examination, the
student need to work hard by studying always and understanding what he or she is
studying.
The fruit of the spirit is the nature of God and we as children of God have to
manifest the fruit of the spirit. According to Gen. 1: 26-28, God created us in His
own image.
Unfortunately, because of Adam’s fall, we were born in sin and do
manifest sinful nature according to Psalm 51:5, which says, “Behold, I was
sharpen in iniquity and in sin my Mother conceived me.”
